The southern region qualifiers for Iraqi universities were launched, which is held by the Student Activities Department / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, hosted by the University of Basra, Southern Technical University, Shatt Al-Arab College, Iraq College, College of Treasures and Al-Maqal University.
The qualifiers were held with the participation of 11 public and private universities from the southern Iraqi governorates.

The opening speech was delivered by the representative of the Ministry, Dr. Haider Aufi, welcome to the sports delegations participating in the sports qualifiers.
The representative of the President of Basra University, Dr. Sabah Mahdi, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences and Physical Education, referring to the return of sports activities after their cessation due to the Corona pandemic, and the importance of sports activities for students socially, psychologically and physically.
And the department echoed d. Qusay Al-Derawi, Director of Student Activities Department, for the students participating in the qualifiers, to announce the start of the qualifiers.
