The University of Basra won the first place in the southern region qualifiers for Iraqi universities in basketball, which was organized by the Student Activities Department / Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, hosted by the University of Basra, the Southern Technical University and the College of Iraq.
The coronation match was attended by the esteemed Assistant President of Basra University, Prof. Ali acidi, the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Dr. Sabah Mahdi, the head of the Olympic Committee’s representative in Basra, Dr. Mushtaq Hamid, and a number of responsible notables in the province of Basra.

And Dr. Ghassan Al-Bajari, Director of Student Activities Department, stated that Basra University came in first place by winning all matches, which were in the league system, and Al-Ain Al-Ahly University came in second place with one loss against the University of Basra, while the third place went to the team of Dhi Qar College, which She had lost two matches at the beginning of the league with Al-Ain and Basra.
