
The Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Department establishes the Student Activities Department Iraqi Universities Table Tennis Championship (male-female) And the Iraqi Universities Chess Championship (male-female) For the period 11-15/12/2022 The tournament was held by the Student Activities Department of the Academic Supervision and Evaluation Authority and hosted by the University of Basra, the Southern Technical University, Iraq University College, Al-Israa University College, Shatt Al-Arab University College, Al-Farahidi University, Al-Rafidain University College and the National University for Science and Technology. The Iraqi Universities Table Tennis Championship continued from the eleventh to the fifteenth of this month, with the participation of forty-two governmental and private universities for male students and twelve universities for female students.
The tournament relied on the group system from eight groups to the sixteen tournament until the final match, which was won by the University of Science in first place at the expense of Dhi Qar University, followed by Karbala University in third place and fourth in Al-Mustansiriya University. As for the female students, Al Ain University won first place after defeating Al-Mustansiriya University, followed by Diyala in the third, Baghdad in the fourth, Al-Qadisah in the fifth, Basra University in the sixth, Southern Technical University in the seventh, and Dhi Qar in the eighth and final place.
As for the Iraqi Universities Chess Championship, it relied on the Swiss system, with four tables distributed over seven rounds for students, so that the University of Baghdad won the first place, Dhi Qar the second, and Basra in the third place, and three tables were distributed over seven rounds for students, in which the University of Basra won the first place, Baghdad the second, and the Southern Technology in the third place. For his part, Mahdi pointed out, "Sports tournaments are one of the most important means of entertainment for students, in addition to their role in discovering distinguished sports talents and materials. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research is interested in this aspect as part of a systematic plan to hold tournaments in various team and individual games throughout the school season."
He also added, "The deanship of the college and the college are supportive and supportive of all youth activities that seek to refine behavior and enhance the human aspect, whether in sports or in other fields, and harness all its qualifications in order to serve the educational process in Iraq and Basra."
